Self-transfer flights
“Self-transfer” refers to a specific type of separate ticket which combines of two or more flights. It results in a lower price, but comes with its own rules and restrictions.
Example: a direct ticket from New York to Prague may be more expensive than two separate tickets from New York to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Prague.
You may need to:
- Collect and recheck your baggage.
- Pass through security and passport control.
- Have a visa if your connection is in a country that requires one.
Important Travel Information
The carriers don’t take responsibility for the connecting flights, as there is no unified itinerary.
- You may need to exit the visa-free zone, which is located behind the security control where the gates are, during your layover. This may be necessary to recheck your baggage, check in for your next flight, change terminals, or simply due to the airport’s layout.
- If any delays or disruptions occur during your travel causing you to miss your connecting flight, the carriers will not provide you with a replacement or refund for the affected flight.
Transfer between different airport terminals
At some large airports, you might also need to travel to a different terminal. If they are not directly connected, you will need to exit the visa-free zone and go through immigration and customs again.
SkyMonde may not protect you from all delays and cancellations.
