Rechecking baggage between flights

If you’re planning a trip with multiple flights, you may need to recheck your baggage at some point during your journey. Rechecking your baggage involves collecting your luggage after your first flight and checking it in again for your next flight.

Reasons for rechecking baggage:

You may need to recheck your baggage if you are flying with different airlines without an interline agreement, have a long layover or customs inspection.

With different airlines, baggage must be retrieved and rechecked, while some airlines require separate check-ins for each segment. When traveling to destinations that require customs inspection, luggage must be collected and rechecked.

It’s important to ensure that you have enough time to collect and recheck your baggage during your layover

Baggage Recheck Guide:

You will need to recheck your baggage if any of your luggage was taken into the cargo hold. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Collect your baggage at the transfer airport. Go to the baggage claim area and find the conveyor belt with the flight number you’ve just arrived on.
  2. Get out of the visa-free zone and take your baggage to the check-in counter (or baggage drop off) for your next flight.
  3. Go through the security and customs and follow the signs to the boarding gate, just as you did at your departure airport.

Rechecking your baggage may add an extra step to your journey, but it’s an important part of ensuring that your luggage arrives safely at your final destination.

To make the rechecking process as smooth as possible, please plan enough time for baggage collection and check-in and understand the requirements of each airline.
